Users. It was released on February  11, 2013.This version includes  the serious security vulnerabilities. Please update latest version if you use Microsoft Office 2011. [How to update] There are two approaches. Click “Check for Updates” in the “Help” menu after one of Word/Excel/PowerPoint is started up.  * In case of using company or university network, the update may sometimes be failure because of using closed network with proxy system. Firefox 18 was released on January 9, 2013. (KUINS) Trouble of Kyoto University Network

Dear all. According  to the notice of KUINS (Kyoto University Integrated Network Services)management committee, the external connection  from Kyoto University network has been being delayed  since the upgrade of the web proxy server for the network (December 25, 2012  22:15 –).  The Office received the contact from the staffs, but please wait until this issue is fixed by the KUINS management committee. 26th December, 2012  Chief of Information Processing Office: Kitani.

Tentative Network Service Suspension of Kyoto University

According to the announcement of the committee of Kyoto University Integrated Network Services (KUINS), some network services will be suspended during the following period due to the upgrade of PPTP servers and NAT servers. * KUINS announcement: http://www.kuins.kyoto-u.ac.jp/ja/index.php (in Japanese) [Date]: December 19, 2012 (Wed)  14:00 — 17:00  [Area]: All CSEAS area, such as Inamori Center, East building, Common building , and Library [Influence]:  You cannot send and receive an e-mail message of the external e-mail address using E-mail software You cannot use the Kyoto University wireless network. Could not send an e-mail message after Thunderbird was upgraded to version 17.

Users. After Thunderbird was upgraded to version 17, you may not be able to send an e-mail message or hang up Thunderbird software when you click on “Reply” button in Thunderbird.As a result of investigating, the Office could find out the avoidance method.  What’s happen? This is the compatibility issue between “QuickText” plugin for Thunderbird and Thunderbird 17.  This plugin can be utilized for using various fixed phrase, such as  plural signatures.  (I think that the explanation of http://extensions.hesslow.se/extension/4/Quicktext/ web site is kind.)
