[Announcement]: How to cope with the frequent disconnection of PPTP connection for Wi-Fi in case of Tablet or SmartPhone.

Dear all, When you’d like to connect your device to the Wi-Fi service in Kyoto University, you need to use the PPTP connection after connected to “MIAKO” wi-fi access point. However, the PPTP connection may be frequently disconnected due to the sleep setting in a Tablet or a Smartphone. Please see the following information if you want to avoid this issue. Section 1. [Local Service] Google Classroom service trial released!

We began to provide the new service “Google Classroom” on 21st August, 2014. This is the service for the education to a classroom, so the teacher and the students will be able to do the communication, to use the report submission system, and the file sharing in the limited area. CSEAS faculties can use for the test purpose, but please pay attention that each classroom’s administrator is only CSEAS faculty. Introduction of Free Antivirus for Mac

Basically, Please use the Antivirus product in case of the company or organization. Because not only the organization but also you assume a responsibility for the information risks, such as the information leak. When you use the PC in the company or organization, please contact IT staff or department because you should check the information security policy. In case of the Center’s staff, please contact the information processing office before you use your PC in the Center. KUINS (the network center of Kyoto University ) HP was migrated to the other HP. Thus, we renewed the information. KU Wi-Fi service (For Kyoto University staffs) Visitor’s Network Services The ID is needed for using the services. [Local] How to use Word and Excel OCR function in the copy machine (Fujixerox ApeosPort-V C6680)

Dear all, The copy machine in the computer room was renewed, so we introduce about new OCR function. The function is unavailable on “store to USB memory”. In the room, please use on “Scan to PC”. Tap “FileFormat” button and tap “More…” button.   Tap “Microsoft Office Format…”.   Tap “Word” or “Excel”. [Important] Please pay attention about the fake Flash Player!

Dear all, The new malware approach was discovered. When the user sees the flash player ads, it will mislead the user  to the malware site for infecting with the user’s PC. The ads is implementing many web sites, so it is possible that the influence area becomes very wide. Please look over the article (published by Symantec.) – Nico Nico Users Redirected to Fake Flash Player According the Twitter information, the ESET security software (the Center uses) detected  and blocked this maiware. According to the buffalo announcement (Japanese),  the software (drivers, firmware, tools) download site was hacked and some files were infected with the computer virus. If you have the buffalo project and download/install the file during the following period, please check it.
