Easy Countermeasure to computer virus for the external media like USB memory / HDD

Dear all. As Information processing office has already announced at many times, there are many computer viruses around our activities. At least, Computer virus has been detected once two days. Please check again whether “Autorun.inf” folder is in the top of your internal and external media or not. If there is not it, please create “Autorun.inf” folder. However, I think that the influence area is very large scale, so in case of famous web browsers and e-mail softwares, I summarized below about the measure. There are two approaches three steps for solving this issue. [Step 1]: OS WindowsXP Access to Microsoft Update, and select “Custom” button. Click “Software, Optional” in the left side menu. And Select  “Update of Root Certificates” and Install it in “Review and install updates”.* If there is not “Update of Root Certificates”, Internet Explorer uses latest version of Root Certificates. This version was released on September 6th, 2011. This is very critical issue. Expanding the capacity of CSEAS E-mail box

Users. I’m sorry that the notice is delated. Since July 2011, CSEAS e-mail box had been expanded (7GB –> 25GB). Now, you can store an e-mail message until 25GB in your mailbox. Then, the capacity for sending and receiving one e-mail message is 25MB. Demise of some Google services like Google Desktop

Users. This decision was published in Official Google Blog on September 2, 2011. By  the decision, I think that Google Desktop user will be influenced most among their uses. Google Desktop will be revoked on September 14, 2011. Since September 14, you won’t be able to download Google Desktop or to get any supports. If your PC cannot download new Adobe Flash Player in the Installer  more than 5 minutes, the upgrade may be failure. The above picture is Japanese, so I’d like to explain Japanese messages. (Attention) Suspension of ECS-ID for the educational account.

Users. * If you have SPS-ID, please use it instead of ECS-ID*. SPS-ID has been published for all staffs, so ECS-ID is published for non-staff users, like students and visiting researchers. ECS-ID users have to do the update procedure every year at the media center of Kyoto University. The media center has been suspending ECS-ID at  July every year. If you don’t do it, your ECS-ID was suspended, so you cannot use the common services of Kyoto University, like wireless network, online journal in Library, and so on. (Fixed) Trouble of Gmail Login Error with IE9 and Microsoft Security Essentials

Users Now, the above trouble seems to be already fixed. According to the information in some web sites, it was solved by Virus Definition File of Microsoft Security Essentials on August 11, 2011.
