[Notice]: UPS maintenance of the building switch.

Dear all, [Date]: 14 November, 2016 (Mon) 9:00 — 17:00 [Place]: Inamori Center, East building and  Common building. [Operation]: Replacement of UPS battery [Influence Area]:Inamori Center, East building,  Common building, and Library. [Influence]: Basically, there aren’t any influences. However, in case that an UPS failure had been broken, the network may be suspended for 5 or 10 minutes during the period. Users. * If you have SPS-ID, please ignore the following notice. If you have ECS-ID* (student, visiting scholar, affiliate faculty&researcher, and so on) except emeritus, please confirm the renewal procedure of ECS-ID. ECS-ID users have to do the renewal procedure every year at the media center of Kyoto University. The media center has been suspending ECS-ID since August every year. If you don’t do it, your ECS-ID was suspended, so you cannot use the common services of Kyoto University, such as Wi-Fi, Library online service, PPTP connection, and so on. [Notice] New Mac OS and iOS will take away the PPTP service!

Dear iPhone/iPad and Mac Users. We already announced, Apple co. announces that new Mac OS Sierra and iOS 10 will be released this month or next month. iPhone 7 will be released on 16th September, so I think iOS will be released until the iPhone 7 release. Unfortunately, Apple said, “iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will take away the PPTP connection”. [Note]: Next version of MacOSX and iOS will remove “PPTP connection”.

MacOSX and iOS Users. Apple said, “iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will remove PPTP connection.“. As you know, Kyoto University has been providing the PPTP connection for accessing to the local services, such as the online journal in the Library, from the outside of Kyoto University. It means that their services won’t be available on next MacOSX (macOS Sierra) and iOS 10 from the outside of Kyoto University. It’s very critical issue. Dear all. Recently, there are many troubles regarding Windows 10 Upgrade. The PC cannot work (Windows OS cannot work). Network cannot connect. Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) cannot work. There are various reason, such as the PC is not compatible with Windows 10 or need to install Windows 10 drivers. Before you upgrade to Windows 10, please see the PC manufacturer’s web site. Especially, please keep in mind that the upgrade will be done even if the “OK” button in the upgrade notice dialog wasn’t clicked.
