Dear all. According to the announcement from the media center of Kyoto University, the Kyoto University network services will be suspended during the following period. [Date]: 11th (Sun) 18:00 — 12th (Mon) 01:00 September, 2016 [Place]: All Area in Kyoto University [Influence]: The following services won’t be available. 1. [Notice] New Mac OS and iOS will take away the PPTP service!

Dear iPhone/iPad and Mac Users. We already announced, Apple co. announces that new Mac OS Sierra and iOS 10 will be released this month or next month. iPhone 7 will be released on 16th September, so I think iOS will be released until the iPhone 7 release. Unfortunately, Apple said, “iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will take away the PPTP connection”. Dear all. Fortunately, the information processing office started Inbox by Gmail service for the Center’s Gmail. We can use it with Gmail and E-mail software, so please experience new service. Especially, I think the functions of “Reminder” and “Travel” is very helpful! About Inbox by Gmail This is New web mail service powered by Google and we can use it with Gmail. MacOSX and iOS Users. Apple said, “iOS 10 and macOS Sierra will remove PPTP connection.“. As you know, Kyoto University has been providing the PPTP connection for accessing to the local services, such as the online journal in the Library, from the outside of Kyoto University. Dear all. Recently, there are many troubles regarding Windows 10 Upgrade. The PC cannot work (Windows OS cannot work). Network cannot connect. Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) cannot work. There are various reason, such as the PC is not compatible with Windows 10 or need to install Windows 10 drivers. Before you upgrade to Windows 10, please see the PC manufacturer’s web site. Especially, please keep in mind that the upgrade will be done even if the “OK” button in the upgrade notice dialog wasn’t clicked. About Lifelong ID (e-mail) service for Professor Emeritus

Professor Emeritus can get ECD-ID (Student account of Kyoto Univresity) and can use various Kyoto University local service, such as e-mail, Library, and network. When Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University gets the ECD-ID, the ECS-ID can be used as lifelong ID (including e-mail). Professor Emeritus doesn’t need to update the ID. Dear all. Now, newly-ransom virus becomes fashionable in Japan. There are not this virus to the Center’s gmail yet, but I received some by my private e-mail. Thus, please be careful if you open an attached document in your e-mail. From: Your e-mail address (falsification) To: Your e-mail address Subject: Document2 (or Payment Receipt, Invoice, and s om) The virus is involved in the e-mail. If you open it, your PC data will be forcibly encrypted and an attacker will request the ransom for restoring the data.
